Baseball 2013

This year we moved Tyson up to AA Baseball instead of T Ball, even though we had to fudge on his age to do it.  We thought another year of T Ball would be too slow for him, and that he has the skills needed to play up a level.

On the first day of practice all the kids took a turn batting, many having come from T Ball weren't able to hit the coaches pitch at all.  Tyson batted last.  He is one of the smallest players on the team (being the youngest).  When it was his turn to bat he walked up to the plate and stood right on top of it (we've never practiced lining up to the plate) and therefore he looked completely clueless.  I don't think the coach was ready for what Tyson was about to do.  He smacked the ball clear into the out field!  The coach was amazed, he said Tyson has a "vicious" swing, and it's the most exciting swing in all of AA baseball!

Festival of Music 2013

Sydney participated in the annual Federation of Music again.  She performs 2 memorized songs in front of a judge and audience.  Later we will recieve her score and ribbon.  After certain number of points are accumulated over several year they will earn a gold cup.  She did an awesome job!  We were not allowed to take video during the performance, so I recorded her playing her songs at home afterwards.

Easter Egg Hunt at Grandma's 2013

This year the Esplin's came to visit for Easter, and with a yard as big as grandma's, the more the merrier!  We hid about 300 eggs at least and the kids hunted for 10 minutes.  But I think Grandpa Gary is still finding some eggs that the kids missed.

Sydney's Creativity

Sydney's 3rd grade class had a music performance at school that was animal themed.  Each child was encouraged to dress up as an animal (no masks allowed).  She wanted to be a peacock.  I told her that would be too difficult to make, but she went ahead and made it anyway, all by her self!  Notice her tail behind her.  She also wanted to bring her stuffed animal peacock with her to the performance.  This was a fun night for her as she loves music, loves animals, and I think she loves performing too.

Recycled Valentine's Boxes

Every year Forest Ridge Elementary School has the kids make their own valentines boxes our of recycled materials.  I get really tired of making these boxes every year, but Carson's was so cute I had to put a picture up.

Linnea

This is just a picture of a picture, so it is blurry and grainy.  I just wanted to include it in my blog so I have it somewhere on the computer.  This is the best picture we have of her, even though my thumb is covering her face.  We didn't think to bring our camera to the hospital, since we weren't planning on having a baby that night.  So we had to rely on the hospital to take a few pictures for us.  They gave us a few hard copies but nothing on a disk.  I really wish we had our camera with us, or that we had paid a professional to come in and take a few pictures (there are some groups who specialize in taking pictures of premature or still born babies).
